The latest 3rd generation Heidelberg HRA Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) unit has been delivered and deployed in the Beverly Office. Operating in the frequency domain, the Heidleberg HRA allows much more rapid and higher resolution imaging of the macula, the central region of the retina where fine vision required for reading and driving is processed. This machine provides completely integrated imaging between conventional photography, angiography and 3D OCT in the macula. This combination allows the Retina Specialist unsurpassed and up to the minute information about macular diseases such as Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, EpiRetinal Membrane, Retinal Vascular Disorders and Vitreo/Macular Tractional Syndromes. This allows the Retina Specialist to customize and modify each patient's treatment plan according to quantifiable responses to specific therapies. The result is fewer unnescessary and ineffective therapeutic interventions providing safer and more cost effective care.
